“Adventures in Art” provides 40% more images than any other elementary art program.  There are nearly 900 works of art in the Student Books alone - 40% by artists who, until recently, were ignored by standard art history texts.

“Adventures in Art” provides the most comprehensive taxonomy of skills, topics, and media available. In addition to exploring drawing, painting, sculpture, and architecture at each grade level, “Adventures in Art” also supports the study of printmaking, crafts, graphic design, fiber arts, and photography.

“Adventures in Art” is the only elementary art program that has built-in luxury of choice. In addition the 36 Core Lessons, “Adventures in Art” also provides 24 OPTIONAL lessons. To easily supplement lesson plans, “Related Lessons” are clearly highlighted in each Lesson Overview.

BIG BOOKS

OVERHEAD TRANSPARENCIES

There are 3 sets of 24 fine art transparencies.  One for grades 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6.  Blank overlays are included for interative response activities. There also is an accompanying guide which includes background information and related activities for each image.

TEACHER’S EDITION

There are wraparound Teacher’s Editions for each grade level.  They are written for an “at a glance” lesson format.  Each lesson has a literature link.  There is full integration and correlation of support components. Opportunities for interdisciplinary links and cultural connections are written into the Teacher’s Editions. There is also an assortment of assessment options.

 

VOCABULARY CARDS

There are 30 colorful (6”x9”) vocabulary cards at each level.  Questioning strategy is on the front of each card, with the corresponding art vocabulary term on the back.  The Cards are written in both English and Spanish.

ARTISTS CARDS

There are 20 colorful (6”x9”) artists cards per level. The portrait or photography of the artist is shown on the front of each card, with age-appropriate biographies on the back.  All cards are in both English and Spansh.

CD-ROM Library

Designed specifically for the elementary art classroom, this CD-ROM library provides:
     Interactive art instruction
     Guided lessons for independent study
     English and Spanish narration
     Point-of-use correlations in the Teacher’s Edition

The CD-ROM library consists of four CD’s.  These are:

     COLOR - Animation, games, and interactive art lessons bring color theory to life
     ELEMENTS OF ART - Travel into a painting to explore and apply the building blocks of art.
     ARTISTS AT WORK - Meet a range of artists and learn why they create and how they see common
       objects.
     ART ADVENTURE - Art images from around the world explore student-oriented themes.

Safety and Techniques Posters

10 large (18”x24”) posters highlight - Art Safety, The elements and principles of design, and basic studio techniques.  English and Spanish versions of each are featured on these two-sided posters.

Large Reproductions

There are 2 sets of 24 full-color fine art prints. Set A is for grades 1-3, and Set B for grades 4-6.
An array of artists, styles, periods, and media are represented. There is an accompanying guide which includes background information and related activities for each image.

Assessment Masters

There are 24 blackline masters per level.  The cover Pre-assessment, introductory activities, and post-lesson evaluation.  There is a Point-of-use correlation in the Teacher’s Edition. Also includes corresponding Spanish Masters.

Studio Masters

There are 18 blackline masters per level.  They provide step-by-step instructions for studio activities. Allows the exploration of techniques while avoiding damage to textbooks. Also includes corresponding Spanish masters.

Slides

There are 30 slides per level. The slides cover major art forms, historical periods and cultural trends are represented. Point-of-use correlation in the Teacher’s Edition.
